The Johannesburg Junior Council Welfare Committee works with the community to improve living conditions of the community at large. Welfare's projects are often a lot more direct and hands on.

They achieve their goals  by holding events for people who are considered underprivileged or working with organisations that help these people.

The main event of the Welfare Committee’s year is Kids Carnival which is held in August every year.

The event is run, with help from the Johannesburg Mini Council, at King Edward XVI School and is a day of fun for about 400 orphaned or underprivileged children. However there are other events and projects which the welfare committee run.
